This webinar reviews the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in development and how you can gain confidence in recommending them to your patients once authorized by the FDA. The speaker provides a brief history of vaccine development during past pandemics, discusses the development process for COVID-19 vaccines and addresses the differences between the vaccine candidates. You will also learn several tips for talking to patients about the potential new vaccines to overcome vaccine hesitancy.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the characteristics of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidates including dosing schedule, storage and handling requirements, and effectiveness in preventing COVID-19.
  2. Compare the normal vaccine development process to the process of developing vaccines during a pandemic and how will this affect the future of vaccine development.
  3. Discuss different strategies for conversing with patients who are hesitant to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, once authorized.
